This is the best think you will ever drink. It’s a rich, silky smooth hot chocolate spiced with cinnamon & nutmeg, topped with fluffy maple cream! It’s safe to say this *extra* version of hot chocolate will warm you right up during this very cold winter.
This is going to be a super short blog post, I know they are usually very detailed but this hot chocolate honestly does not require much attention, it comes together in less than 10 minutes and required only 1 piece of equipment, a saucepan.
The trick to getting the PERFECT hot cocoa is using Nature’s Store vegan hazelnut cocoa spread. This provides the dreamy, rich, silky texture that we all know and love.
If you want to indulge in the best whipped cream topping, the best way to go would be Oatly’s whipping cream. It whips up extremely well and provides the best flavour, especially when flavoured with maple & cinnamon!
Vegan winter warming hot cocoa
prep time: 10mins / serves: 2
- hot cocoa
- 200ml vegan milk
- 200ml vegan oatly single cream, or more vegan milk
- 3-4 tbsp nature’s store “nutella”
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- whipped cream
- 1/3 cup vegan whipping cream, I use oatly
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp vanilla
Add the vegan whipping cream, maple syrup, cinnamon & vanilla to a small bowl. With an electric whisk whip until stiff peaks form, transfer to the fridge whilst you make the hot cocoa.
Add the vegan milk, “nutella”, cocoa powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg & vanilla to a small saucepan. Over medium-high heat constantly whisk the mixture until fully combined and hot, pour into 2 small mugs and top with the whipped cream. Optionally serve with shaved chocolate, enjoy!
